The Most Expensive Rims in the World

The Most Expensive Rims in the World
Asanti is a name that everyone in the high end automotive industry should know about. Celebrity hip hop moguls have been some of their biggest customers for years. When you hear rappers talking about putting dubs on their ride, they are probably talking about Asanti Rims.
Asanti has offered some of the most high class rims for the last 20 years, and catered to some of the biggest names in hip hop. Their innovative designs draw the high end customers to their company. With most Asanti rims costing at least $6,000 a rim, you are looking at on average spending over $20,000 dollars just to put rims on your car. You better have a $100,000 car to make that purchase worth it!
It was no surprise when Asanti decided to create the worlds most expensive rims of all time. They took an already amazing rim and incrusted it with pure diamonds. Each rim by itself costs $250,000 dollars, and the set is a crisp cool $1,000,000 dollars. It is easy to see why these rims are so rare, for there is a very small market for rims of this magnitude.

Rapper and hip hop entrepreneur, Master P , owns a set of these luxurious rims. With a networth of over 350 million dollars it is easy to see why he purchased such expensive rims. He has enough money to pretty much do whatever he wants.
It is interesting to see Asanti produce such extravagant rims, but it is not surprising. Asanti relishes in the highest end luxuries.

IMAGINE yourself encapsulated within a turquoise blue bubble, watching shoals of colourful reef fish dart around. Welcome to Africa's firstunderwater room in Zanzibar at The Manta Resort.
The floating dwelling, designed by Swedish engineers, is made up of three levels - some above water, and some under it.
Although underwater rooms do exist in places such as the Maldives and Stockholm, this is the first one in Africa, and Pemba is renowned for being a great diving spot with a plethora of sealife found in the surroundings waters.

"After many years of planning, we finally opened The Manta Underwater Room to guests on the 1st November 2013. We opened The Manta Resort in August 2008. We have 16 rooms, and now with the underwater room we have 17," Matthew Saus, said.
"Only six guests have had the chance to stay so far, and the reaction is awe.
"Shoals of silver bait engulf the room with predators lurking in the background. Nights are action packed, especially feeding time when the spotlights are on. We have even had an octopus crawl over one of the windows."
Those lucky enough to snag a night or two in the room have the chance to really immerse themselves in the underwater world.
"I guess the right word for it is privilege, as you certainly do feel privileged to be part of this world," Saus said.
And hey, if you don't mind sealife watching you sleep ... or not sleep ... it could just well be the best room in the world.

Miss Universe 2013 Models Million Dollar Swimsuit

It was well publicised that the winner of the Miss Universe 2013 pageant would be modeling the million dollar swimsuit the day after she won the crown. That is exactly what happened on Monday November 11. The swimwear was designed by  Yamamay as a special commemorative outfit for the 2013 competition.
On Sunday, Miss Venezuela Gabriela Isler; called Molly by her friends, won the 2013 contest and the 25 year-old also “won” the opportunity to wear this 900 jewel encrusted swimsuit. She posed for pictures in Moscow, Russia for her first “formal” Miss Universe photoshoot.
The swimsuit; valued at a million dollars, is made up of rubies, diamonds and emeralds on a white fabric background looked stunning on the winning Isler. According to her, this first photo opportunity marked the beginning of her official duties as the new Miss Universe.
Speaking to the media, she revealed that she was very happy sharing her first day of wearing the crown and the swimsuit.  She confessed that she was a “simple girl” who came to have fun and enjoy “the moment.” The one-off designer one piece suit had been under guard since the beginning of the contest and while posing she asked jokingly where the guards were as she was going to “run with it [the suit].
Paula Shugart, president of the Miss Universe organization humorously replied that they did still have the armed guards so Isler should not get “any ideas.”

The joint organizers of the Miss Universe pageant have not said whether the  Yamamay designed suit would be for sale, though there would be few that could afford such an expensive bit of swimwear.
Isler’s full name is María Gabriela Isler and she grew up in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. According to the new Miss Universe’s website profile, she is a trained flamenco dancer; a “second mother” to her niece and a personality on the Venevision TV Network .
The former Miss Venezuela is the seventh winner of the Miss Universe title from her country and the only other country to have more wins is the USA with eight wins since the pageant started. The excited beauty told reporters on the day of the million dollar photoshoot that she had been up until the “wee hours” talking with her “loved ones” about her win.
Not only was “Molly” excited about her win, but so was the president of her country Nicolas Maduro. The Venezuelan president got onto his Twitter account to tweet that Isler’s win was a “triumph for Venezuela.”
The photographs of the new Miss Universe 2013 in the commemorative million dollar swimsuit have been flooding the internet since they were taken on Monday. This is the first act of the newest crown wearing winner of the pageant and she was as dazzling as any of the stones on her suit. The combination of Isler and the suit, makes the value rise from a million dollars to priceless.

First Test: 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG

AMG's engine laboratory in Affalterbach would probably impress NASA's top tinkerers. The impeccable workplace sits adjacent to the building housing the division's famous "one man, one engine" production line. "How's the new turbo four-cylinder coming along?" I bluntly asked a powertrain engineer during my laboratory tour. At the time -- last October -- the engine was a rumor. So too was the car it supposedly would power in the States. The car that would eventually become the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG. He smiled and looked around like a gossiping schoolboy, then whispered, "You'll be amazed at what's coming: its power, efficiency, and, yes, its sound." He smiled and shot me a thumbs-up. Could a four-cylinder AMG be a real AMG? AMGs are about torque on top of torque with a side of torque. They're dealers of tire destruction. They're autobahn annihilators.

One year later, I got my first crack at the final product, a 355-hp, 332 lb-ft of torque, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder codenamed M133 that's packed neatly inside the nose of the CLA45 AMG 4MATIC. The division's first engine with fewer than six cylinders is also the most powerful inline-four to ever propel a production car. It's a gem of a mill that's constructed to the same meticulous standards as AMG's mighty V-8s and V-12s, though it's done in Kölleda, Germany. Color me amazed. At just 2250 rpm, every pound-foot is first routed through a newly developed seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, then directed to the brand's 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system tuned for AMG duty. The setup uses a two-part propeller shaft to route torque to the rear wheels via a multi-clutch rear differential when slip or hard cornering is detected. It's a front-wheel-drive car in normal circumstances for fuel economy sake, but can ultimately split torque 50/50 between the front and rear axles. I began questioning the engine's claimed power output as I cruised through some of Virginia's suburbs. For more than 350 horsepower, it's superbly calm. However, instances of powertrain confusion were created by jumping onto the throttle too quickly in fuel-sipping ECO start/stop mode. The gearbox and engine hiccupped, but they usually recovered quickly with a surge of smooth, hefty pull. If the pull wasn't enough, instantaneous -- almost imperceptible -- shifts and beautiful BRAAP BRAAP noises from the quad exhaust clearly indicated that the 45 means performance business. Few turbocharged cars of this caliber possess a gearbox that can match the hustle and silkiness of the CLA's.

No doubt, swimwear follows the fashion trends coming down the runway but would you ever think to spend 30 million U.S. dollars on a piece of bikini? Take a sip of water before you gaze at this glittering $30 million bikini created by Susan Rosen with Steinmetz Diamonds, then tell me, apart from beaches where else can you wear it. This world’s most expensive bikini uses all diamonds and no fabric. Model Molly Sims wore this diamond-studded bikini for the centerfold of the 2006 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

(Image Credit) So, will you dare to wear it? And if somehow you gather courage to wear it, I’m sure you’ll went into hot sweats just like the model Sims. Here is what she felt about this $30 million bikini:
Honey, when they pulled those three pieces out of the box, I went into hot sweats! Of course, it barely covered me! I swear to you, between the band-aids being placed in the right positions, the diamonds being placed in exactly the right place … By the time that shot was over, I think I lost like a pound of sweat, I was so nervous. I was like, “Oh my god, am I showing too much ass? I don’t have an ass! I don’t have a Brazilian ass. I’m not Brazilian and I’m not 16!” It was thirty million dollars, between the necklace, the two diamonds on the breasts, and then the huge diamond on my … girlfriend, let’s call it my girlfriend. Thirty million dollars! But I thought thirty million dollars would go a little farther!

The Ettore Bugatti monogram line translates physical elements of the car’s auto’s designs into fashion

The Ettore Bugatti monogram line translates physical elements of the car’s auto’s designs into fashion

The brand hopes this move will increase its visibility – and no doubt they will achieve this, with plans to build a global network of 35 retail flagships, boutiques and shop-in-shops over the next 5 years. But moving away from one’s core expertise too far too soon can be dangerous.
Using the world’s top-of-the-range materials does not compensate for a brand’s lack of history in a particular area. Indeed, Bugatti is leveraging on the reputation of high-end brands in other sectors to produce watches and accessories. These include watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier and homeware brand, Lalique.
While these are recognised names, this almost reaffirms the auto brands own limited expertise in those categories. From a luxury standpoint, this is not ideal – it may be better to be an expert in one area and innovate within that, than to expand into unfamiliar territory and be associated with mediocrity.
An alternative is to start first with close extensions. Aston Martin’s limited edition road bike, the One-77 Cycle, is a good example. Produced in the same quantity as the One-77 car and featuring the same clean design, this is an extension that customers can easily understand because it uses innovations naturally derived from racing car technology.
The result is an element of trust in the quality of the new product, and ultimately in the brand. At the other end of the scale, Ferrari’s licensing move into apparel has attracted the masses, yet has managed maintain the exclusivity of its brand. This is because it has associated the Ferrari store to its almost separate motorsports brand, rather than the automotive brand itself.
In summary, moving into lifestyle is a prevalent trend amongst prestige brands, and a very rewarding one if executed well. Brands need to plan their route carefully – though the safest way is to expand gradually into areas of similar expertise.

Modified Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Camaro, SS at 2013 SEMA Show

NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon provided his input on the SS performance sedan concept that rides on a lowered suspension and is fitted with upgraded brakes and a Borla exhaust system. The 415-hp 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 is untouched, but the exterior is customized with a new grille, satin paint, 20-inch rims, and a carbon fiber spoiler. Inside, there are perforated suede seat inserts, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a pedal kit from Chevrolet Accessories. Chevrolet will show off three examples of the Corvette Stingray, with two inspired by the East and West Coast. First is the Corvette Stingray Convertible Atlantic concept, which gets upgraded floor mats, suede interior surfaces, chrome rims, Fusion Gray headlight housings, and a body kit finished in Carbon Flash Metallic paint. Chevrolet says the concept's modifications are meant to resemble the "details and refinement of a private jet" and some upgrades are available through Chevrolet Accessories. Next is the Corvette Stingray Coupe Pacific concept, what starts life with the Z51 package and Torch Red paint. Mods include satin black wheels and Carbon Flash exterior accents.  The third C7 on display will be the Corvette Stingray Gran Turismo concept, which is essentially a real life version of the car featured in Gran Turismo 6 video game. The extensive list of mods include metallic blue paint with graphics, a carbon fiber body kit, a new front grille, yellow-tinted headlights, a custom flat-bottom steering wheel, and racing harnesses for the front seats. The COPO Camaro returns for 2014 and will retain is super low production run of just 69 units. The hand-built COPO features racing essentials including a roll cage and modified suspension. The car at SEMA is fitted with the supercharged 350 engine, though the 427, and naturally aspirated 350 and 396 engines will still be available.  The new 2014 Camaro Z/28 will be on display and not surprisingly Chevrolet is leaving this car untouched. The Z/28, which recently made headlines thanks to its 7:37.40 lap time on a rain-soaked Nurburgring road course, is powered by a naturally aspirated 505-hp 7.0-liter LS7 V-8. It's also lighter than a Camaro ZL1 thanks to lightweight wheels and a thinner rear-window glass. While the Z/28 is unmodified, the following four Camaros will sport custom bits and items from the Chevrolet Accessories and Chevrolet Performance catalog.  First up is the Chevrolet Performance Garage Camaro concept, which is based on the SS, but gets a mix of parts from the Z/28 and ZL1. Other mods include a ground effects package, graphics, and a helical differential. The Chevrolet Performance Camaro V-8 concept also features Z/28 and ZL1 bits and an even longer list of cosmetic upgrades. In addition to Chevrolet Accessories 45th anniversary wheels, the concept features RS headlights and taillights, blacked-out exterior accents, and custom soft-touch interior trim. The Chevrolet Performance Camaro V-6 concept gains components from its eight-cylinder siblings including the SS' Brembo brake kit and 1LE suspension components. A Borla exhaust system and upgrades from Chevrolet Accessories and Chevrolet Performance complete the mods list. Finally, the Camaro Spring Special Edition is a production-ready package that will soon be available in showrooms. This Camaro features Summit White paint with blue accents (same color theme for the interior), ZL1 spoiler, 21-inch rims, HID headlights, and special floor mats. The Spring Special Edition will be available with a 323-hp V-6 or 400-426-hp V-8 engine.

BMW is preparing plug-in electric vehicles

BMW is preparing plug-in electric vehicles and hybrid as dedicated models like the i3 and i8, and as alternative powertrain versions of its mainstream cars. Ian Robertson, BMW's sales and marketing board director, predicts the i3's range extender engine option will be popular. "It's a comparatively inexpensive option and I think the take will be high," he tells Motor Trend. "Plug-in hybrid will be 15 percent, or more, of the premium segment in 10 years." The range extender consists of a small two-cylinder engine. It doesn't drive the wheels and doesn't add to performance, a contrast to the combustion engine in the i8, which is geared to the wheels. The i8 can use all its power only when the engine is running.  "Mainstream" PHEV sedans would use the ActiveHybrid system now available in the 5 Series, and shortly the 3 and 7 Series, as a base. The system consists of a regular BMW gas engine and eight-speed automatic, with an electric motor sandwiched between the engine and transmission. Software-actuated clutches on either side allow the two sources to energize the car in various combinations. By increasing motor power and battery capacity, BMW has all it needs for a PHEV. "It's no secret that we have the rights to all the i numbers," Robertson says. "No decisions have been made yet as to cars other than the i3 and i8, but this range isn't a one-off." Surely, a range extender would turn a larger car, a notional i5, into an attractive proposition.

The i8 plug-in hybrid 2+2 supercar, which Robertson indicates will cost "more than $100,000 because it's a super sports cars," will use a mid-mounted 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine driving the rear wheels, with an electric motor for the front wheels. Combined gas and electric engine power output is now confirmed at 349 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque, with a manufacturer's estimated 0-62 mph in less than 5 seconds. Robertson has driven the i8 several times during development, and says the huge engineering task of integrating the two power sources seamlessly is complete. He grins, describing the instant torque: "It really thumps you." The company unveiled another concept of the i3 four-seater that's "90 percent of production," per Robertson. The main change will be the glazed lower portion of the doors. On both the i3 and i8, they'll change to something similar to those on the i8 Spyder concept. The unveiling took place at the world's first dedicated i showroom, in London. BMW will open another in New York within a year, as well as in three more European cities and Tokyo and Shanghai. Robertson estimates fewer than a quarter of regular BMW service shops will be able to handle i models because of the training needed to handle their carbon fiber and high-voltage electronics.
The i cars will offer a mobility package called 360o Electric, which includes access to a mobile charging truck if the battery runs flat. It also bundles installation of a specially designed home charger, premium city charging spots, and smartphone apps for access to such services as swapping for a gas vehicle for specific trips. The aim is to answer an apprehensive buyer's every last FAQ about electric cars.World production of carbon-fiber composite is about 30,000 tons, Robertson continues, much of it in fishing rods. BMW will add to that with these cars. It has acquired a great lead in making large sheets of the stuff, and "that journey hasn't been an easy one." It gives BMW a unique selling proposition.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.1

TOKYO
An earthquake of magnitude 7.1 struck early Saturday off Japan's east coast, the U.S. Geological Survey said, triggering small tsunamis but causing no apparent damage.
Japan's meteorological agency said the quake was an aftershock of the magnitude 9.0 earthquake and tsunami that struck the same area in 2011, killing about 19,000 people and devastating the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear power plant.
Tsunamis of up to 40 centimeters (15 inches) were reported Saturday at four areas along the coast, but a tsunami advisory was lifted less than two hours after the quake.
Japanese television images of harbors showed calm waters. The quake hit at 2:10 a.m. Tokyo time (1710 GMT) about 290 kilometers (170 miles) off Fukushima, and it was felt in Tokyo, some 300 miles (480 kilometers) away.
"It was fairly big, and rattled quite a bit, but nothing fell to the floor or broke. We've had quakes of this magnitude before," Satoshi Mizuno, an official with the Fukushima prefectural government's disaster management department, told The Associated Press by phone. "Luckily, the quake's center was very far off the coast."
Mizuno said the operator of the troubled Fukushima plant, Tokyo Electric Power Co., said no damage or abnormalities have been found.
Japan's meteorological agency issued a 1-meter (3-foot) tsunami advisory for a long stretch of Japan's northeastern coast. The U.S. Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not post warnings for the rest of the Pacific.
The meteorological agency reported tsunamis of 40 centimeters in Kuji city in Iwate prefecture and Soma city in Fukushima, as well as a 20-centimeter tsunami at Ofunato city in Iwate and a 30-centimeter tsunami at Ishinomaki in Miyagi prefecture.

If you are reach and you like to drink some exclusive wine this is for you

Got $195,000 to spare? Then make your way to Le Clos in the Dubai International Airport. There, three bottles of 2009 Bordeaux from Château Margaux are available for your consumption pleasure.
While these bottles has been touted as the world's most expensive bottle of wine -- and indeed one might have trouble finding a pricier grape-based libation -- more expensive bottles have indeed been sold at auctions in the past. Take, for example, a1992 bottle of Screaming Eagle that sold for $500,000. So, while this wine might be the most expensive sold at retail, it isn't the most expensive ever.
These aren't just any bottles, though. They are Balthazars, which hold 12 liters of wine (standard wine bottles hold 750 milliliters). This is the first time that Château Margaux, a prominent first-growth Bordeaux producer, has bottled Balthazars.
The wines come with a few perks. Any purchasers of the Balthazars will be flown first-class to Bordeaux for a private tour of the cellars and vineyard, as well as dinner with the chief winemaker.
Paul Pontallier of Château Margaux explains in the video above that 2009 was a particularly good year for the Bordeaux harvest. "It is very special," he says of the $195,000 wine.

A very Expensive Fun

Ken Block  (born November 21, 1967) is a professional rally driver with the Hoonigan Racing Division, formerly known as the Monster World Rally Team. Block is also one of the co-founders and recently appointed Chief Brand Officer of DC Shoes.Block has also competed in many action sports events including skateboardingsnowboarding, and motocross.

Is not a luxury car but is very expensive this one, just for the record each tire for drifting can cost 400 dollars for only one ! and this guy at the end of the video the tires where useless.
